Louise has
a wide variety of life experiences. Her
scholastic achievements started with an undergraduate
degree in History,
summa cum laude,
with honors in European History,
from Western Maryland College in Westminster, Maryland.
She earned a
Master’s Degree in Library and Information Sciences from
the University of Maryland, College Park. She was
employed as a Children’s Librarian and Automation
specialist in Lawton, OK before she changed careers,
and spent the next 25 years in various computer
technical support positions. During that time, she was
an active volunteer in prison ministry,
and animal rescue and therapy.
In 2004, Louise earned a
Master's Degree
in Social Work from the University of North Carolina at
Charlotte with a Gerontology Certification in 2004. She
earned her license to practice Clinical Social Work
(LCSW) in 2008. Louise practiced within several
nonprofit agencies with target populations of the
chronically ill and with relative caregivers. She
developed expertise in working with grandparent
caregivers. Louise then began to practice in child
welfare, in particular with at-risk children, for the
past several years. She has experience with children,
teens and families who have suffered abuse, neglect,
loss, abandonment, mental illness and family
dysfunction. She also has experience working with
children with behavioral issues such as ADHD and
advocacy within the CMS school system. Louise provided
education to professionals and the public on pet therapy
and chronic illnesses including lectures and
professional instruction for numerous NASW trainings.
Louise practices existentialism- finding the meaning of
life, finding fulfillment, and living each and every day
to the max.
Louise has been married
for 34 years and has raised two children, one who has
recently graduated from college and one currently in
college. Louise is still involved with computers
through her church children’s ministry, and is very
committed to animal therapy and rescue. Louise is
particularly interested in helping people of all ages
through life transitions, including animal grief and
loss
